Default Excellent Site

Hi Stephen,

I have been watching progress of your site over the last few months and must say i am very impressed with your finished design and layout.. my only worry would be how long the home page takes to load, i just timed it and it took 1min 15secs on dial up. I am also located in Ireland, and not everybody has the luxury of a fast connection... anyway.. something to think about!

Good luck with your venture, you might want to PM me as i too run a 68 auto classified site in Ireland.. we might be able to trade links?

Mark

which website are you running mark?

Am aware its a little bandwidth happy, but want it high on features, I may try do a second skin for it to run a mobile / lite version, and have it run on a slightly different sub domain.

Runs well and looks good to me! Good luck with it! I like that search function on the home page, where did that come from?

Just a suggestion, on your checkout, you have whole lot of extra field, dropdown boxes. You have to click on each one and then choose yes or no.

Can these be defaulted to No?

If not can you use radio boxes?

I feel it would make the checkout a lot less laborious

Q: Can you precise describe how have you set up this extra fields, they look great.

I have searched, with the search function, to find audi a8 (you have one in your listings) and the search has nothing found. Bug ?

Anyway, the site looks great . Respect !

Regards

Well spotted ombre,

I checked it out myself thinking the impossible... the master had an error in his search module.

On closer inspection, its the setup of the engine size extra field.

The search is limited to 1.0 litre audis which I dont think exist

Yeah, the S8 is a 5.0 liter,

On the extra fields,

I created categories for each brand, aston martin, audi, etc
then created several extra fields which were, aston martin model, audi model, etc

This extra field was only applicable to the correct category
So when some one picked audi, it said audi type,

thought this neater than hundreds of sub categories

have only certain extra fields searchable, the ones I feel important to people
Location (Thanks Maffo(his mod)), Year, Body Type, Engine Type, Transmission, Engine Size, Colour,

I'll be tidying up the extra fields a bit further to list extras, instead of yes/no
