Default General question from a newbie

I am looking to utilize 68C as a "jobs wanted" classifieds site. After exhaustive searching throughout the site and forums am I correct in the following:

1. Each state can be it's own category (or sub under Jobs Wanted cat)
2. Each state can have multiple sub-cats (towns)
3. Can require that both ad posters and those looking to browse ads register
4. Ad searches can be set up as saved searches for future browsing
5. Can manually approve either ad posters or ad searcher registrations
6. IM or PM can be allowed between posters and searchers

Configuring with very basic template and text content, how difficult would you rate the initial setup to be?

I've played with the demo and have at least figured out how to upload a logo and fiddle with categories.

Thanks so much.

Could do it that way and it would work. I personally wouldn't.

Registration is required to post an ad, but not to browse. You would have to make modifications to disallow "Guests" to not be able to browse, but I don't understand why you would want to do that with the exception of making contact with a poster. Looking at it from an end users standpoint, "Why the H*** do I have to register just to look at the listed jobs? <click, google search for another site>"

No, this is not a built in function. You can however (if registered) save actual listings as a favorite.

Yes, but there is no differentiation between the two.

There is no IM in this script.

On a scale of 1 (easiest) to 10 (hardest), I would rate it at 2 on the assumption that you know basic HTML and CSS.

Thanks MnT. Some clarification.....job seekers advertise themsleves with the type of job "wanted" and list skills/resume. Employers review ads of these job seekers. It is the job seeker who posts the ad not the employer posting a job. This is the reason I "think" I may want to control the ad browser, only allowing registered, verifiable employers access. Much like a resume database within a job board.....employers must register for the access to the resume data. Job board software is everywhere but I am looking to "twist" the model a bit.....hence the 68C inquiry.

Might you be able to help in a more formal/professional capacity?

Thanks again!

You control who sees what by assigning people to user groups and then specify what that user group has access to.

Thanks Larry. So are you saying I can control the employer manually (assigning them as suggested) but yet allow ad posters the ability to post with auto-approval by their group assignment as well?

Trying to thwart the "work from home" crowd from contacting the job seekers......so I need to control WHO can see the "jobs wanted" ads. Make sense? Thanks again sir.

You can set ads to require approval, its global and applies to all ads posted regardless of who posted them.
Checkout Settings - 68 Classifieds

When a user registers at your site they by default become a registered user. You set what each user group can see by editing the user group itself.

You can set unregistered and registered user groups to be very restrictive on what they see.

Then you create a new custom user group and allow it to see all the details etc.

You will manually have to change the user group for your "hiring companies" users to your new custom group for them to see the details allowed by your settings for the new custom user group.
