Good morning everyone.
I have another question before I purchase classified script (in 48 hours). ![]() Is it possible to integrate PHPBB Forum script to classified script? I mean, once they log-in to classified website they are also login in forum site (phpbb), or the other way around? How can it be done? Could anyone please enlighten me with this. Thanks, Marc |

Integration of a forum this be straight forward using a link on a tab or what ever. However, the issue is going to be co-registration and co-sharing of usernames/passwords. Even if possible by customising the code, this is not going to be a good idea in my opinion. Many people will want to hide their identities on a forum. I would run with two separate registrations/logins. There is also the issue of usergroups to consider: guest, member, administrator, moderator.

To answer your question Marc, yes it can be done but apparently it is not a simple task (meaning that it can be done). 68 classifieds did at one time have an add-on that could be purchased seperately to achieve this but I asume that as 68Classifieds upgraded its own script and then PHPBB upgraded their script, that the task of integration has fallen behind or been abandoned - perhaps due to lack of demand. It is rarely mentioned in the forums here. VBullitin might be a better option for you as the usershare add-on is supported here.
Anyway, one of the staff will be along shortly to clarify.

I have never understood why anyone running a classifieds site would wish to integrate it with a forum. Why do some people want this?

There are different reasons for different purposes. Off of the top of my head, here's some of them:
In my particular case, I use 68 Classifieds as a CMS (Content Management System) which actually runs my complete Community website. A forum is right in line with a community site. A classified site with a niche market such as horses, muscle cars, extreme sports may want to have forums to engage visitors keeping them on their site to discuss the topics that surround the classified site. If they are already visiting and participating in these forums and then want to buy or sell goods related, where are they going to look to do their buying/selling? The classifieds on the existing site they are already using. An existing website that already has a user base on their forums and now want to have classified ads offered as a venue for their members to buy and sell. From a marketing and SEO standpoint, Having ever changing fresh content, as you do with a forum helps in search engine ranking. Having discussion in forums that match topics to categories in your classifieds increases the likely hood of Organic users and link ins from other sites. These are just a few reasons off the top of my head. I'm sure there are several other reasons that you or anyone else could come up with if you put your mind to it. -Mike "Oh, there's supposed to be a box?"
