Do you still have to get a pay pal account in order to purchase your software or has that been changed so that you can just use a credit card, and i have nothing against pay pal they are a good company.

You can use a credit card with PayPal without having an account.

Yes we accept mastercard and visa through authorize.net and also paypal. If you are interested in the hosted edition then we only accept Paypal for it. Because we use their subscription system.

Ok I understand that you have to use paypal to purchase the hosted edition.....now.....can I set up the hosted account so my customers can use either a credit card or paypal.

Yes - your advertisers can use paypal or one of the merchant gateways supported by 68C - that is your business and you recieve their monies by the choice you use or set up with your installation. You pay however for your hosting from 68C by paypal as that is what you are asking.

Sorry I think I didn't read your post correctly. I took it as you was going to purchase the hosted edition on behalf of a customer of yours.

With the hosted edition you can setup paypal or one of the other payment providers to accept money.

let me ask it this way, a customer comes to my web site to list a classified ad, they fill in all the necessary info and click the pay button and up comes the paypal form to pay for the ad..........but.......the customer does not have a paypal account and there is no place on the page, "the same page", to just pay with a credit card so, poof, i lose a customer, now how do i, or can i set up the hosted account to use both pay pal and another credit card account" on the same page" or put up a link that says go here to pay without using paypal.

Whether your classified site is hosted with 68C or elsewhere is irrelevant to the types of payment you as a 68C site owner accept.

Once your 68C site is installed and you have access to the admin side of the site you go in and setup the payment providers you would like your clients (ie the people posting ads on your site) to be able to use. A complete list is available here

Payment Providers

During the checkout process by your site visitor they are presented with a dropdown list that displays their payment choices, which is based on how you configured your own site.

68 classifieds sells the classified software and also hosting for their software but in and of themselves are not a payment processor. You have to use one of the ones that is supported by the 68classifieds software or create your own. On that same subject, if YOU have a paypal account you can accept credit cards using paypal from people who do not have a paypal account I believe.
