Pre Purchase Software

Good Morning All,

I have questions regarding "server requirements" and "other item you will need"
server requirements
a) I need the PHP version 4.3
b) My SQL GD, or GD2 or netbpm


My questions is do I need both or just one will do for now? If so which do you recommend?

other items you will need
a) Dreamwaever from Macromedia
b) Front Page.

Does any one sell these product on their web pages? Does any know of any website where I can find"video" training programs for the above software?

Any other tips on this topic will be appreciated. Thanks...

Yes you will require PHP and mySQl, all reputable servers will have these pre-installed so you have no worries there along with GD2.

DEFINATELY NOT FRONTPAGE!!!

I wouldnt even go for dreamweaver, its an absolute ripoff.

Ive said it time and again but nobody seems to want to use it but you will not find a better priced, feature packed system for writing your code, tha PHPDESIGNER by MPSOFTWARE. Its perfect for all PHP work.

The web server wher you site will be hostd will need PHP Ver 4.3 or higher, Mysql and GD or GD2. Doesnt really matter if its GD or GD 2 but you must have one or the other as well as PHP and mysql.

dreamweaver and frontpage are simply qysiwig html editors. Personally I dont use either and manually edit my html. They can both add a lot of junk to the html which can cause issues in a smarty environment and they can be a bit complex to use.

The template files are just text so can be edited with any text editor (ie notepad) so the above 2 applications arent needed by any means.
