Default ioncube loader. Confussion

Just gave PIPEX support a call to make sure I can use this ioncube thingy. I was told adamently that it wasn't install and can not be install on my type of shared hosting, and that I wouldn't be able to use this script. Me being me, I downloaded the installer made a folder off public_html uploaed files, run the helper and get.

An ionCube encoded file has been loaded successfully.
Encoded files should now function correctly.

Do I beleive this or the experts on PIPEX nightime support?
Is it something that they could stop me from using?

Hi-

There are two ways to use the ioncube loaders - runtime loading and modification of the php.ini file. The folks in support were telling you that they wouldn't modify the php.ini file.

The reason that the ioncube test you ran was successful was because you used the 'runtime' method.

If the test passed, there really shouldn't be any reason you can't use the script.

By the way - cheers for not giving up

Thanks-

There is no reason that a "Shared Host" can not run Ioncube. If that were actually true, then there would be some very, very serious problems with tens of thousands of websites out there.
