Default Australia Bush Fires (Wild Fires)

You may have read in the press that Australia's biggest natural disaster has occurred in the State of Victoria the last couple of days. As of now, 126 dead and the toll expected to go higher and hundreds of homes destroyed. Two small towns were virtually wipped off the map.

The many stories coming out are absolutely horrific. Typical of the stories are here: (Streaming VIDEO) http://media.theage.com.au/?rid=45935 The AGE newspaper has a good coverage of the fires and its available here: The Age - Business, World & Breaking News | Melbourne, Australia

Google map showing fire locations here: Google Maps

It's ironic that whilst the south of the country has been ravaged by wild fires, the north of the country (Queensland) is being ravaged by floods. One town in Queensland has received over a meter (36") of rain in the space of 7 days.

Interesting also is how a number of social networking sites and even Google have contributed to 'information getting out'. See here: http://www.theage.com.au/news/techno...027910408.html
