Default eBay plans new payment scheme for Australia

Not sure how many are following eBay's trials and tribulations, but if you are, here is some news for you.

eBay are planning that Australian buyers can only pay sellers by PayPal, COD or personal cheque. Thise means fund transfers are out as well as buyers using their own credit cards (direct using merchants).

Critics of the plan that includes most of the BIG sellers say that eBay is favouring their own PayPal and trying to restrict competition.

I have no doubt eBay are experimenting by using Australia first - then they will take it to the world. However this plan may be scuttled by the 'Australian Competition and Consumer Commission' and the 'Reserve Bank' (Australia's central bank) because it is anti competitive and against Australia's 'Trade Practices Act'.
