Default Spam Emails

Hi all.

I am using Sigma series, running the latest version. I was wondering if anyone can help with a spam issue.

I have been getting visits to my site from Kazakstan, and getting emails through the 'spam proof' contact forms, below is an example one:

Full Name: zzcvmcvlsy
Email Address: ]zefzgz@hdmepj
Message:
9oozMF [url=http://wkxlnqqlxqxs.com/]wkxlnqqlxqxs, [link=http://xduuuhydvzok.com/]xduuuhydvzok,]http://shlpaugdjorg.com/

For this to occur, would the email have to be sent by a person, or can a bot do this? Also, I am in Australia, if a bot found my site, that is understandable, but fora person over there to visit me 30 times, doesn't make sense...

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Lots of posts on the forum about spam and lots on the internet in terms of advice. There are no easy answers. Most of us just live with it and let our hosting providers do the best they can.

I have the same problem, but my registered users are getting them too and it's putting them off the site. Are there any plans to place a better capcha tool in place perhaps?

recapatcha stops them, its on 68mods.com
I use Civ's scam module and it also stops them but is not free

Doesn't work - spammers will always find a way round. I live with this problem everyday and so do most webmasters. Until the authorities really crack down, nothing will change.

I only let people contact the sellers or buyers if they are registered, that way it discourages a lot of people or bots. If they register and then spam and if your are not named admin, there is a good chance that you will receive the spam, and from that you will be able to ban the spamming member. Worked for me multiple times.

that's ok as an approach, but I then get enquiries to the administrator for a listing as the only thing the users can find in some cases is the contact option for the site.

I realise it's a moving target, as a forum I also run had real problems till I installed a better capcha and recently they've started getting through again....hence my question about whether there was any move to include a better capcha than the one currently with the system.

I'll try the re-capcha... it can't hurt!
