Arrow Google Checkout Module for 68 Classifieds

I have researched this forum in and out, and saw the requests for Google Checkout Module have been going on for over 2 years now, though it looks like there is no progress going on for this highly wanted feature.

Does anyone have the most updated info on this?

Thanks

That should not matter Philoo

I like giving options to my members. A lot of people dislike paypal and use google checkout as an alternative.

Some prefer Paypal....etc its about choice.

I really like to see a googlecheckout.

On the other hand it's an issue of monthly charges

* PayPal ................................ $30.00 a month
* Authorize.net ..................... $25.00 + other bank statement fees + amex, visa, mc and discover (over $60.00 a month)
* Google Checkout ................. FREE

It's would be smarter to pay one time fee for a Google Checkout module to 68C or any other 3rd party and spend saved money on advertising to boost new visitors and clients.

I've seen many people sites using 68C, most bearly have any ads, I am not even talking about Featured ones. So what it looks like is that people end up paying arround $400.00 to $700.00 a year just to cover the cost of having classifieds section on their site, what's the fun about it?

Philoo, I am sorry but your comment makes you look like you have just started using the internet, no offence.

Do you know a way of having Instant Payment Notification (IPN) working with a free PayPal account?

Other accounts cost $30.00 + transaction fees

I know you can have 1 free IPN per account, so i have 5 accounts.
I tried to work out how to have more than one IPN per account but found it was more trouble than it was worth.

Im sure 68 will take on board the suggestions left in these types of posts. Its all a question of the amount of time it would take to implement, then there is the testing of it. Even the paypal took a very long time to get right with v4 as different people were reporting different errors using the same system.

As a suggestion, and its only a suggestion, if you can find a couple more people who want this system, could you not develop it between yourselves?

You can get the API from google, compare the code to that of Paypal, Worldpay, Authorize etc and maybe you can see what criteria need to be met to
a: Make a payment
b: Update your website upon payment.

Just my 2 cents:

I don't think this should be something done by 68C itself. This could easily be done by a 3rd party developer. Sure you might have to pay more for this, but would you rather the cost of creation, maintenance, security auditing, and support be added into the cost of the 68C script for everyone? These kinds of custom requests are better suited to 3rd party development. The less core changes you have the less the system needs to be updated saving everyone time/money.

My thoughts are, the system is fine the way it is. However, I think the custom payment provider should be expanded to deal with 3rd party provider requests, if it doesn't already (haven't given this bit of code much of a look).

The payment system should be able to support modules that take payment for other kinds of services at least to a minimum level. I think opening up the payment system for module access would increase the likelihood that modules for other payment systems will be developed.

I think Maffo has the right idea, site owners (see a handful of them voted yes) could pool their money and hire someone to develop this and all share in the benefit. Heck they could even stipulate that they can resell the module and earn back all of their investment.

John v4 does include a payment gateway system just like the module system. So in theory adding new gateways should be easier now.
