Post Search Module

Description

So many have been waiting for this!! A module allowing your visitors to make comprehensive searches of your classifieds listings from any page.

Typically, the search module is placed in a column of your layout making complete search available everywhere to your visitors. You may even decide like many of the large classifieds sites to make "search" the centerpiece of your home page or displayed on empty pages - this is now easy to do for 68C sites. The search module gives the visitor a very professional experience.

I've been thinking of purchasing one of your templates Seymour, will the search module be included as standard?

Default error message

hi there!

uploaded the module into the modules folder, upon activation of the templatecodes folder/mod
I get the following message:
Code:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home/XXX/public_html/classifieds/modules/templatecodes/includes/TC_Modules.php on line 26
@
HTML Code:
http://www.myDomain/68classifieds/administration/managemodules.php?name=templatecodes&do=changestate&action=activate
When I click the browser back button I get this:
Code:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home/XXX/public_html/classifieds/modules/templatecodes/hooks.php on line 28
Have I got to edit some file before I upload ino the modules folder? because I haven't!

Either way, I have to delete Global Search module from the modules folder or I can't gain access to my admin area ... it won't let me go back, refresh, ... or whatever!

Thanks for your help

@Winnie

Sounds like you are attempting to run code that is written in/for PHP5 in PHP4. We clearly state at our site that our products require PHP5.

To fix your admin area just rename the templatecodes and quick_search module directories on your server.

@michael

Sorry we missed your question, the answer is that we do not include it with the template though we do in a package deal. See our site for details.

You need a 4.1 module.

The reality is that 68C version 4.1 is quite a different beast to 4.09. There is hardly a file which has not changed within the system. The transition from 4.09 to 4.1 is not minor release. It often requires quite a bit of new development on the part of template and module designers. It is no different than trying to take category.php from 4.09 and trying to run it in 4.1.

I have your Nu Style template and the ajax extra search field isn't working. Please don't tell me I have to repurchase the template again.

To be frank I sucked up having re-purchase the search module after just a few weeks because 68 upgraded from 4.09 to 4.1

Surely I don't have to pay $100 for the bloody template again after buying it last month?

This upgrade has pissed me off today. Looks like I am having spend another couple of hundred dollars for mods.

What happens when 68 updates to 4.2? 4.3? Etc.

Please excuse the rant, I've had a bastard day.

No problem. We all have bad days.

First of all if you have a Nu Style template (4.1) then there should be no issue and no further purchase is necessary. The search module (4.1) which you purchased should be working with it.

As for 4.2, 4.3 it is unlikely that problems in making straightforward upgrades of modules will arrive because the code base is not likely to change fundamentally.

If you have an older 4.09 template then a repurchase will be necessary for the template as explained earlier but I am sure we can offer some discount on this occasion (I don't think that is the problem here anyway).

Please send a ticket to support if you have not done so including your details so we can check out the problem. We will get you back on track as quickly as we can.
