Hi all,
Ok, first of all I just want to say that I am not a tech guys and I haven't got the first clue about PHP so please don't laugh at my questions ![]() In the control pannel, under settings - Page editor - home page I am tring to upload a picture by clicking on the picture button at the top of the text editor section. I have then a pop up command that ask me for the image url, but when I type the url of the image which is stored on my computer, it doesn't work. I guess I need to host my image first online but I don't know how to do it. Also If it works, how to set the image size up and its position on the page. Cheers Sam |

URL stands for Universal Resource locator. A file stored on your computer is not readily available to every computer on the internet and thus it has no URL.
You are correct in assuming you have to get the image onto a system that has space allocated for the world to see, like a web server where you have your web site hosted. You get your image online just like you got your site online and that is transfer the file to a spot on your web server. I would recommend placing it inside the /images folder thats already in the template folder for the template you are using........something like..... /templates/<template name>/images where <template name> is the name of the template you are using. I cant be much more specific because you didnt tell us what version of 68C you are using or what template. The page editor available via admin is very limited in function so I dont think you will be able to specify an image size. You ideally shouldnt be specifying a size thats different than the images actual size anyway. If you have an image you want to use you should size it appropriatly in your image editing application of choice prior to uploading it and using it. For specific and detailed manipulation of your templates, you best bet is to edit them by hand and not use the admin supplied editor.

Folders have permissions and just because you drop a file in a folder doesnt mean the world will be able to see it. Knowing here you put it will give you the info needed to write the URL. If you dont know where you put it how can anyone or the scripts find it if you cant tell them where to find it????

Ok I am getting there.
Finally Found the templates file. and the pics folder where i tried to upload the pics. I created a pics in a gif format and uploaded it on this folder but when i try to open in a browser it tells me that the image cannot be found. I thought that maybe the file was too big and resized it to 4K like all the other but nothing changed.... |

Normally its a bad idea to use special characters in file names so I would get rid of the plus sign for starters.
Next are you sure thats the location the file ended up at? If you log into your web control panel or view the site with an FTP client is that where you se the file?
