Default Email notification help

Hi,

I ve noticed that when users register or post an item, they receive an e-mail notification branded to 68 Classified, which I find quite confusing. How can I edit the email template design easily and brand it.
Also, how to change the e-mail adress from which the notification is sent?

Thanks

Sam

Go to /templates/(your template folder)/emails/html or text.
Edit the files inside according to your needs.

You can change the email address from 68 Classifieds Administration -> Settings -> Main Settings -> Site Email.

Default Different email related question

I'm trying to figure out how to get it to send an email to the seller after they post an ad...I see all the default emails in there for registration, the ones that I get when someone else has post an ad, etc. but nothing that looks like a confirmation email to the seller after they place their ad.

How do I add something like that?

Thanks!

As far as I am aware (I could well have tripped up since we are now on version 4.1x) there is no confirmation email sent to the advertiser. At the end of the day they can see what adverts are active in their account management area or directly as a visitor if the system is set up to automate posts. Sending an email does seem superfluous in many respects but I understand you are comparing 68C to many pieces of software (blogs in particular) that do not have account management per se and therefore send out confirmation emails.

What I was hoping to do with the confirmation email is say thanks for placing their ad, and then have some information regarding how long it will take for their ad to be active on the site, links to instructions for making modifications, etc.

All of this information is already on the site, but apparently nobody ever reads it because I still get tons of questions about it, so I thought it might help a little bit by including it in a conf. email.

If anyone knows how I could set that up I would greatly appreciate it - thanks!

Trina, when an e-mail is sent is dependant on if the ad is a free ad or an ad that costs money.

The default behavior of 68C only sends e-mail once an order has been completed.

If you have ads that require payment, these ads and their associated order gets placed in your database BUT the Order status is either pending payment or pending approval until you get paid.

If the user selected an automated payment method payment is handled online and your site should make the order complete and in turn send out a confirmation e-mail.

The problem that most people face is that if the payment method chosen by the user is Check or mail order, the order stays in pending approval state and therefor no e-mail is sent until you manually change the status of the order to completed, which is generally done after you recieve the check or money order in the mail.

If this is the problem you are experiencing, then my snail mail module may be what you are looking for. It will trigger an e-mail to be sent to the user as well as display a custom thank you page where you can give them direction for sending you a payment. ClassifiedMods Snail Mail Module
