Thanks again to everyone who has been so helpful in getting my site up and running in such a short time. (Fla-Autodealersx) I have been able to modify the default design template as instructed by the forum. Now my client wants me to place banner ads in the design. I thought below the left side nav bar and above the registration/sign in area. Can anyone provide instruction how I can do this? I have limited knowledge of writing code but I've managed to get this far in the design, soooo...
Thanks, Bo |

Hi Bo,
Are you planning on using a dedicated tool like OpenX for this ? its free and I have implemented it on my site so can give you a few pointers in relation to it if so. Cheers, Mully

I would like to hear more about how you implemented this on your site - this looks like what I am looking for.

I'm not Mully, but I've been using OpenX since when it used to be phpadsnew, then openads and now openX. I use it for not only my classifieds sites, but also my blog and all my other sites. I also offer it to my clients as a service for their sites as well, since they have now offered that feature.
It is pretty straight forward to use this. OpenX is an open source script, so you can download it for free. Bear in mind that just like 68 Classifieds, it is a complete software scripting solution, therefore you will need to install it in it's own directory on your web hosting server and have a database for it to run. Essentially, you just need to follow their instructions to set it up. Once it is set up and you have your zones set up for your "Publisher" (eg. your classified website) then you need to generate the invocation code. Put that invocation code in your layout.tpl file wherever you want the ad to appear. I use the javascript option for my invocation code, therefore on my classified site I wrap the javascript code inside {literal}{/literal} smarty elements.
