categories and subcats are stored in the database so they are not part of the template.

That's what I thought but I didn;t know how to phrase my question. I actually like the look of my modified template (www.autoclassifiedsx.com) but the setting up of "extra fields" has become complicated to me. Originally I started with a classifieds script from Esvon. (Current site is fla-autodealersx.com) but I had many issues and they charge a bundle just to answer simple questions. Does anybody offer anything with the categories already set up?

We don't have anything with the categories pre-setup because not many people want the same categories. For example a car only site would want them different than a car, truck, motorcycle, site.

With that said the categories in our system are very simple and you shouldn't have any problems adding them. The extra fields are little more complex but you just need to figure out what all extras you want to add.

What I am thinking for a car site would be:

Year: - Range select field
Make - Parent field or single line text field.
Model - Child or single line text field.
Miles: - Single line text field
Condition - Select field
Accessories - Checkboxes - Air, Power, sunroof, etc...
