Default using a category id in browse.tpl

Hi all

I have the developer version 4.2 and I want to put my own php code at the bottom of this template page.

What I would like to do is get the category id (and maybe name) and use it within the php block. Most likely a switch statement that does different things depending on where we are.

How would I go about accessing and using this variable like this please? What other variables are available? is there a list anywhere?

Thank you

Use the smarty debug feature to see what variables are available to you. There are lots of threads and posts about this on the forum. If you have a recent version then it is possible to pick up the categoryID during browse.

Please put your version and template into your post aswell. It helps us to help you. Not aware of any version 4.2 - did I miss something

4.16 then, and the default template.

What is the smarty debug feature and how do I use it?

The search facility in this forum and in the documentation don't really help very much. Is there an FAQ

I'm sorry if this is a too basic question. Believe me I have looked.

No problem - you find the debug utility invaluable. Do remember if you have the seo module to turn it off or the debug can play up.
