I'm not really sure I'm following you.

So, you downloaded the software and uploaded it to your "remote" as in web server. You then modified your local file(s) as in on your local computer, which was your only copy of the software? Then you uploaded your modified version to the server and now you have a blank page? Is that correct?

OK, so lesson learned. Never work on your original download. Always work on a copy so that you always have a backup "virgin" copy.

Login to the 68 Classifieds Customer area and download the software again and then you will have a new "virgin" copy.

Please post your 68 Classifieds type (Designer, Developer), version (4.0.x, 4.1.x) and template in your postings asking for help. This information will help you get better answers for your posts. A great place to do this is in your signature!

Yes the automatic upload would overwrite your existing database. Your choice is, when doing the new install, name a different database than the first one, therefore your original db will not be touched. After the install there is a way to reconnect to your original database which I am sure sending a ticket to support will instruct you in the how to.

Worry not. Mike gave you good advice.
Me? "just been there, done that" and passing the experience to you.

Woa, hold on there guys!!!

First, there is NO NEED to do a fresh install going through the installation process again which would indeed overwrite the existing database.

The advice was to simply download a complete virgin copy of the software. As indicated by the original poster, there was only modification to the layout file(s). Therefore, only those files need to be uploaded to the server again. Those files will indeed be overwritten with the originals. My suggestion would be to simply upload the "default" template folder only.

My next advice would be to make a copy of the downloaded software and ONLY make any changes to the COPY from that point forward. In addition, if you are going to make changes to the default template files, then I would advise that you make a copy of the default template folder and call it something else and upload that to your templates folder. You will then select your new template folder in the administration. Doing it this way will allow you to have a virgin default template on the server at all times. If something goes wrong in your custom template, you can always switch back to the original default template.

You are absoutely right, Mike. I misunderstood 1st poster's problem. Of course, no need to re-install, simply to get a copy of the layout.tpl and other files. Was just trying to help. oops :-)
