Default Multiple image upload

I am putting this here as there is yet no suggestion forum for v4.

One of the more popular requests on the one suggestion thread was for multiple image uploads. I think it would be worth pointing out that photobucket.com has an excellent system with multiple boxes. It's very fast and very simple:

It can also be expanded to a large number of boxes:

I think this would be extremely popular. Anyone who is curious is welcome to join www.photobucket.com and give it a whirl. It works really well. For any classifieds that normally has multiple images per ad, this makes the ad-placing process much simpler and faster.

If there are no plans to integrate something like this into 68classifieds in this version of v4, then I would suggest that someone make a paid module for this. I would happily pay for this feature, and I think anyone with a large 68classifieds where the members normally place photos would want it as well.

I would also be interested in a multiple box uploading format. I have used the multiple box style a few times in the past and it seems alot quicker, rather than uploading each picture individually.

I think this should be considered a must have really for a modern classifieds site.

I think it would be a great feature also, but something you need to keep in mind is that just because 68C is capable of it doesnt mean it will work on your web server, especially if you have shared hosting.

Good points and very true.

However I think most sites could handle the multi image upload providing the classifieds admin makes the allowed image a reasonable size i.e. 2M or less and don't allow too many photos per ad.

That will certainly help but you may still run into the occassional dialup user who wants to upload 8 pics and will get a script timeout even with reasonably sized pics.

Most of the 68Classifeds Competitors have multiple image uploads, and they aren't necessarily designed for larger sites. I used Photopost Classifieds in the past (before I found 68C) and it was less sophisticated than 68Classifieds, but even that had 6 boxes for multiple images.

If the user has trouble uploading multiple images because of dial up, etc they can always load one photo at a time, you don't have to upload all the photos at once.

I'll put my two cents in here as well - I think it's a great idea. We've actually had requests from customers for this very thing, and on other sites we own we saw a huge jump in user satisfaction after making multiple image uploads available.

It would be great to see this in v4.

Of course they can but most users with dialup are also not very computer savvy and likely wont know to try that or even have a clue as to what the problem is.

My point is simply be careful what you wish for, you may get it. Know your site and your users because if you dont you may find its a lot more trouble than its worth. Just a simple warning, nothing less, nothing more.
