Apostrophe in full description field

My host changed PHP and Database to PHP 5 and MySQL 5
Now if users copy and paste text that contain apostrophe from the Word or anywhere else into the full description field - description is not saved (it just empty). If you type apostrophe directly in the field - it is saved no problem.

If you copy and paste text that contain apostrophe into the short description field - it is saved.

The problem is that many users copy and paste texts and I don’t know how to recover their descriptions (if it is possible at all) and how to fix this problem.

You may want to submit a ticket for this and send us your ftp, and administration login.

It is hard to really say something to try without going in and testing it.

I've just discovered the same problem after a server upgrade - is there a fix for this? Running 3.1.7 developer.

Problem solved.

I submitted a ticket and Eric fixed the problem which lies is in the includes/functions.php file

As you can see from the posts above, this problem was fixed by submitting a support ticket. I would suggest for you to submit the ticket as well.

What would be good (IMHO) since this seems to now be a "common" issue is that the solution is posted.
