Exclamation Editing Add Listing Form

What form(s) do I edit to change the information "titles"? And is there a "smarty" function that also applies here that would need to be modded?

I want to modify what the form requests from the user.

Please enter the ad details below
* Title:

* Price: $

Link to your website:

* Short Description:

* Description:

Thanks.

I have created different categories for private party and then business listings...

So, in the biz listing we are requesting Company Name instead of "Title".

Also, where does the short description show up (under what view) as compared to the Long description.

Thanks...

But since the add listing template is currently the same for all, I just want to give them an option of what they can put in each box.

Make sense?

The fields that you are referring to are the default fields that are going to be in every category ad listing.

If you are wanting to have different fields for specific categories, then you create custom "extra fields" in the admin and assign them to the category(ies) that you want the extra fields applied to.

You need to be aware of a few things here, if you are going to pursue your categories in that way. If you ad extra fields to categories, that DOES NOT replace any of the default fields. (e.g. if your add field "Company Name" it is not going to replace "Title")

In order to do what you are saying, not only are you going to need to create those fields for each category, but then you will also then need for those to be required to be filled out. You would then need to customize the showlistings.tpl.php or showlisting2.tpl.php (depending on which one you are using), you will need to create custom viewlisting.tpl.php files for each custom category that you are replacing as well as customizing the checkout files and renew files. In addition, you will need to modify the viewlisting.php file to go to each individual custom category viewlisting.tpl.php file that you have.

It can be done and I have done it on my site with the exception of the checkout and renew files.

Make sure that you keep that you keep BACKUPS of all of the original files from 68c. I would also recommend that you keep a very detailed log documenting any/all of your modifications. Trust me if you don't, you'll be pulling your hair out. (I'm almost totally bald now)

How about if I just mod the "one template for all?"

By just adding some wording to the template....

Like say for instance, instead of it just saying "TITLE", it would say "TITLE OR COMPANY NAME".....

And where it says "UPLOAD PHOTO"...can I change it to say "UPLOAD LOGO OR PHOTO" ?

In what files to do I look at to make that change please...?

Thanks a million...trying to get these items squared away as I am going live.

All help is extremely appreciated....
