i there a way to make the add 'awaitig authorisation' untill the cheque or money order has been verified? instead of letting it go live straight away?

You can set the listings to be manually approved here: yoursite.com/administration/usercheckoutsettings.php

When you have recived the payment you can manualy approve the listing.
You will see the number of unaproved ads at yoursite.com/administration/index.php.

What he is saying is you can set it in 68c Admin at the above URL. You dont need the designer version.
