You can log into admin and change her user group from awaiting auth to a regular user.

Assuming your mail system is working then its likely her server of e-mail client routed your sites mail to the trash.

There are nine...and admin wants me to put in the password?
Asks which user am I changing the password to???

Per user...I copied their initial password ***** pasted over it and then pasted again i the secondary area (I could not only paste into the second one unless I pasted into the first box...and that seemed to accept it.

hopefully I did not mess up the passwords....

Well....this did mess up all those passwords....

It took the admin password and placed it in there...and because it is disguised in the box (******)....I could not tell....
I just fixed one...
there should really be a way to do this on the admin end...

aaaarrrgh!

When you finish modifying the account you have to delete the **** from the 1st password field, it should then save the account with the same password that the user entered and not prompt you with anything about changing the password.

If this happens again..I will try it...

but hopefully it will not...

You know the delay was probably due to a very active signup...

We did an email blast in the morning and by noon we had 75 registered users ....or those trying to get registered... ( I guess it is a good problem!)
But messed up the email stuff.....

Thanks....

awesome... Im actually in that phase now, trying to get people to sign up for free listings and I guess really the only way to do it is to email people with listings for sale on other sites and get them to list...would you mind sharing any of your strategies? How many emails did you have to send out to get those 75?

Regards,
Bryan

Im not sure I understand what you are doing or where at or why. Your not changing passwords in phpmyadmin are you? Passwords are not plain text, they are encrypted by the php code so what you see in mysql is not an accurate representation.

Unless im totally mistaken a user registers with the site which sets their user group to "Users awaiting e-mail confirmation". AT this point if they didnt get the e-mail for some reason and have ben unable to activate their acount, changing their password wont help. They still need to have their acount authorized and to do that all you ned to do is log into the admin side of the site, search users, find your user and select modify. Then use the drop down to change their status to "registered user" and save their changes. You wont need to do anything with the password fields. This will make the user registered so they can log in or at least request a password change.

Now, in the case of changing passwords should a user need you to do it you CAN do it from admin. It seems to me everyone is making this a lot more difficult than it is.

Larry,

I tried doing exactly like you said....seemed simple enough.... (not so)
I went into admin and changing their status from awaiting to registered...as they did not receive the second email in 24 hours!!!
So with that said....I tried to change the 9 users into registered users...

When I changed the status...a box popped up asking me if I was changing my password for admin? So I backed out of it...for fear I could not get back into the admin....

So next step I tried copying the ***** into the second field...because it kept asking me to insert the email again...and again...

So the last step was to copy the ***** in the first field and pasted into both fields the first and second email fields...
which it finally let me change the status...

All this not knowing about the hushed secret encrypted cryptonite! *****

With that said....
I messed up the 9 passwords....
and now only two came back to let me know they could not get in...so I fixed them...

Something doesnt seem right. What version are you using?

I just went toone of my sites, registered a new user (I have auth e-mail set to on).

I logged into the admin side of my site, "browse users" and found my new user. I selected the "modify" button for that user and the users info was displayd (ie the user group, name, e-mail etc etc) and the password fields at the bottom below that.

All I had to do was leave the password fields alone and use the dropdown field for the user group to change it from "users awaiting email" to "registered user" and submit the changes. Then the new user I created, who never got (or in my case never replied) to the auth e-mail could log right in.

Perhaps yu have your browser set to save field data and it auto populated the password field for you, but when I go into the modify user the fields are blank.
