Default Leaving ggogle ads off home page

I want to have google ads on the side of of my website under the menu but I don't what them on the home page. How can I add conditional code that will determine if the user is viewing the home page?

Something like the following:

if (homepage) {
don't show google ads here;
} else {
show google ads here;
}

Could someone please help.
Thanks!

you can see all the variables in use by appending debug=1 to the URL.

{if $body!="home.tpl.php"}
display google ads
{/if}

Thanks! It worked perfect. I wish I understood 68c as well as you do so I didn't have to ask for so much help. I am learning.
