Default Can I have a mirror site?

Here is what I want to do...

I have a horse classifieds site and have partnered up with a horse auctioneer. He wants to list his non auction horses in my classifieds and offer classifieds to everyone but wants it to look like its his site not mine. He would be an afilliate of mine and would get a % of sales that came from his site.

Can it work like this. He has his own look but we share the data, and I keep control of the admin...i.e. if someone places an ad on his site we share the $ and the ad shows on both of our sites...if someone places an ad on my site I keep all the $ and the ad shows on both sites.

This could be done w/ many affilliates. Potentially.

The big dog of horse classifieds seems to be equine.com they have affiliates that sell ads under their own name but use subdomains

Examples:

www.equine.com
www.webpony.com webpony.equine.com
www.aqha.com aqha.equine.com
www.justhorses.com or justhorses.equine.com

They boast over 20 sites like this. This could surely increase sales.

Thanks for the help.

Do you have cpanel?

Here is a good link to help you share the database - Not too sure what kind of permission's you'd have to set up to maintain the integrity of your db. You wouldn't want to grant full access to anyone you didn't want to share admin privileges with.

https://www.getsomesupport.com/manuals/cpanel/7.html

You might even make a script to sync two different databases with the tables you want to share.

I have an HSphere server. I would not grant anyone access to the admin other than myself. I would just want the listings to be shared no matter which site it was posted to.

Default Co Brand/Affiliate information

I happened to spot this post and thought I'd give you a few details as to how we setup cobrands at Equine.com.

1. We can limit our cobrands to only show a particular breed or discipline. Note that if you want to make as much money as possible, we recommend that you should allow all breeds and disciplines. Many horse owners have numerous breeds that do differnet disciplines.

2. We manage everything for the you. We handle customer service, advertising, etc. All that we require is that you market the classifieds as much as possible. You must place a "classifieds" link on their main navigation, for example.

3. "We're looking into building the classifieds on our own" -That's definitely an option to look into, but even if you do implement your own classifieds, you'll have to start from scratch. Imagine launching your new classified engine (that looks like your site) in a few weeks with as many has 50,000 horses for sale. Classified content is very addictive and should drive quite a bit of traffic. There's no engineering costs and no maintenance required. We've been doing this for 10+ years now and are experts at it. Launching with zero classifieds sends a message to buyers and sellers that there's little marketplace action, something crucial to selling horses.

4. If you already offer online classifieds we usually propose to that we can generate more money for the association and save you money by managing all the aspects of the classifieds for you.

5. "I don't want to cannibalize our print classifieds!" There is a natural progression of classifieds is towards the web and it's better to embrace it now. In addition, the cobrandee can take advantage of Click2Print. This system allows the cobrandee to cross-sell online classified customers into print classified ads. It works great. Go to http://publishers.equine.com for more info.

6. Cobrands can be live in 15 business days.

7. Revenue splits. The current method is 33% goes to us, 33% goes to cobrandee, and the final 33% goes to whoever sold the ad space (typically us).

8. In many cases, we can import any existing classified listings that the cobrandee may have. This is a great option for those switching from a successful system to ours.

Just a few facts....

If you'd like more info, feel free to contact me.

Thanks,

Dallis
