Ads showing as 'Not Completed'

I have noticed in the last couple of weeks that a lot of Ads are showing up in Admin as Not Completed - so they are not becoming active when the user lists them. I have it set that all Ads activate automatically and most do, but I've noticed that now that my site (ver 3.015) has over 1500 ads and I'm getting around 50-60 new ones a day, a lot are showing as 'not completed'.

I did a test myself, placed 3 ads fine but the fourth ad went through all the steps fine but didn't show the Thanks page, just went straight back to the user listing page. Jumped into Admin page and checked and the Ad showed as 'not completed'.

I'm having to check my site every couple of hours and activate Ads manually. When people don't see the Ad active they either place again, and sometimes the same thing happens so you get the same ad placed 4-5 times before it activates, or I get a nasty email saying my site is not working properly.

Anyone had the same issues - anyone got any ideas what might be happening.

I know this has come up before and I think the conclusion is that some people are just not sure if they are done with the process or not. I believe Eric is working on a "step" system so the poster knows what step of how many they are on.

In the mean time perhaps a little note on step 1 of the checkout process letting people know there will be multiple pages and they need to complete all steps for their ad to be placed. Then perhaps On the final page instead of little thank you add more info letting them know there ad is actually placed.

But I have tried myself and got the problem. I tested by placing the same ad several times. Same detail - same photo's being uploaded. They all go through fine up until the final step where it lists the package you are using and the charge for placing the ad. All Ads on my site are currently free so there is no charge and the final step shows no charge.

Normally, the next screen is the Thank you page, but on some it doesn't display the Thank You page, it just goes straight back to the user listing details screen. These are the Ads that are showing as 'Not Completed'

Ads that do show the 'Thank You' page are fine.

I have emailed some users that have had this problem and they have confirmed that listings that don't show up for them haven't shown the thank you page.

I've placed lots of Ads on my site myself so I'd like to think I know how to follow the process correctly - but I have experienced the problem myself.

As I said, it doesn't happen that often, but is happening enough now that I'm starting to worry about people getting peeved off about it and will start spreading the word about problems with the site. Just want to avoid that scenario.

Do you have access to any error logs at all? Perhaps you can look through some of them and see if there is something that may indicate where the problem lies.

We're also seeing quite a bit of this. We assumed it was a result of Paypal currently being our only payment provider, or the buyer just being fickle, but according to Ashley's 2nd post perhaps there really is a problem here.

I noticed you never responded to Larry's log question Ashley, have you resolved this on your site?

i get about 1/3 not completed. always looks like users have to try 2 or 3 times to get it right! Doesnt seem to difficult to me. I just think the general public can be IDIOTS?

Sorry - no problem is not fixed. Have had a look at my Log Files and the only errors that are being generated related to people trying to upload photos larger in size than what I allow. This doesn't relate to this problem however as it still occurs for people who don't even try and upload photo's.

Just realised that there's another concurrent thread "V3.0.15 payment ad not complete" which obviously has a bearing on this problem.
