Default In very simple terms

I have looked at various tutorials, and still cannot get this the way I want it, and have now decided to start again from scratch.

So, could someone please explain in VERY simple terms, how I can get the Members options to work on a drop down box, as I am going round in ever decreasing circles

'All' ho ho I want is for Member Options to appear in the horizontal nav bar, and the rest to drop down in a box.
BUT the box needs to be the same as the table looks on the homepage (with a background and a border) if thats at all possible Homepage Here Is this possible?

You mean add the register, login, place an ad, etc to a form select list that would appear in the topbar?

Yes, I want to put Member options after home (easy bit) then on mouseover the other things will drop down in a box that picks up the background, and with a border round it, I was getting bits of it but could not do the whole thing.

OK - Java script or DHTML will create this for you. Can I just double check we are talking about the same thing?

1. On your horizontal nav, you already have Home, Search, Browse, Latest Products, Most Viewed, Contact ... and now you want to add 'Member Options'. When a mouse cursor in placed over the Member Options link, you want to have a drop down sub menu appear that says Register, Login and Add a Product.

2. I also take it that once the person is logged in, you then want your sub menu to display those Member Option links that become available when a user is logged in such as Favorites, My Account, Modify a Listing, etc.

The first part is fairly straight forward but the second is going to test the skill of whoever can put it together (I think).

First off, what pieces of software or scripts have you 'been' using in your attempt to create this?

Thanks Chaslie, both1 and 2 are needed, but am I glad its not as easy to script as it would first seem!!

I used Xara which got me dropdown menus, and looked at quite a few HTML tutorial sites which got to the same point, but I could not get it to behave like it does in the table, or get the border/background. My scripting is basic to put it mildly, and I just could not get it to work.
The only other thing I thought of was to take the Add a listing and modify a listing as a seperate dropdown, and the members account/shop things on another, but I suspect that it would not make that much difference.

This is a neat little tool I use to make menus. I bought it back when I first started learning and have used it a couple times recently. It makes compatible menus from a pretty simple interface.
