Lightbulb Help with banner advertising

I have purchased the Maffo banner module (love it), and at this time I am customizing my advertising spaces. Somewhere in my thoughts I remember reading somthing about search engines frowning upon a certain number of banner ads that are listed. I think the number was no more than 10. I have searched and searched but have not found this info anywhere.
Can someone out there give me some input about this? I need to know if there IS a cut off number, is it per page, is the rotation involved or just the ad space, etc.

Anxiously waiting

I have not heard this, however I have heard you can't show more than one or two google ads on a single page. But I could mistaken on that as well. Sorry I can't be of more help.

There is not a set rule regarding the number of banners. Having too many will indeed affect the openess of a search engine to list you, however. All search engines are not made of the same cloth, therefore there is no set rule.

What I would recommend to you is decide how much you want to expose your customers too? I personally hate seeing any website that has tons of ads in them and will usually discontinue my visitation when it's overwhelming.

If you're interested in finding out straight from the source of the search engines, I would recommend going to the search site directly. They all have webmaster pages regarding important information such as that and other tips about improving your rankings.

Default Thanks

Thank you both for your help. I think I will keep going with my original plan for my banners. I was just worried that I may have too many.
