In here because its happening in both the default and sigma templates!
Got site loaded and updated to v4.2.4
Added the sigma package and edited the home page, header and footer for some wording that relates to my site.
Had a problem with the search bringing up US states when there are none in the database as detailed in a thread below.

This afternoon I have just logged into admin and ticked the box to save my login, then went to change users to a different group. Each time it does the save user and I then get a blank page until I log in again, tried using the back button and still blank pages.
Template_C was cleared, cleared all my laptop cookies and tried again. Same thing happened.
Saw a thread on here about blank admin page and put in error reporting to see whats happening and hit F5 to refresh the screen and got the following message
Not sure if its related but last night I was having a problem getting a test advert on, in Sigma it selects the category and tells me success but I cannot then choose a payment package because it tels me I need to choose a category. I tried a listing via admin panel which showed in admin as active but did not show in the user side as being there at all.

Could it be I have a database problem? Its the only thing I can think of that may be causing this sort of chaos!!

I cannot do a search as the forum software only seems to list the posts that are very recent so cannot learn from other posts on this one, sorry

I will PM Blair an admin loginin case he wants to try for himself.

Can't say for sure, but it sounds like your hosting service has register_globals turned on which is a no no! Register_globals is turned OFF by default when php is installed and is a major security issue when on. This is documented by php.net (the folks that make php).

I don't know what version of 68 Classifieds that you upgraded from as you didn't list that, however if it was an older version (off the top of my head, earlier than 4.2.x), you need to upgrade your TemplateCodes System for compatibility as well, as documented by TemplateCodes.

That would explain things, I will check out the registered globals and I upgraded from v4. something but cannot remember which it was now so will have a look at the template codes documentation as well.

Thanks a lot, I can get onto that for tonights session

Php ini was easily fixed as a google sent me to cpanel where I was able to turn it off, problem still there so I will look up what to do with template codes when I get back later

Just looked up templatecodes and all I can come up with is the fact that I am using the sigma one, if so its the latest codes as I only got them a few weeks back and applied them after the update. I still have the problems if I use the default template hence me wondering if its a database problem rather than a software one if that makes sense? Is it worth having another database with the old pre update information on it to point the site at and then running the update again to see if the problem is still there?

It appears to have been a database problem as I set up a different one and its working fine now

Calaf6 - sorry for the late reply. I was out of town with my son this weekend.

From your last post, I'm assuming you got this sorted?

Thanks Blair, yes all sorted now, it must have been something odd with the database as it seems happy now. All I did was setup a new db, upload the backup to it and change the connections file to point at it. Solved this and the states problem I was having. Not sure what was wrong but its working now and thats all I'm worried about!

Hope you had a good weekend
