I follow all the update instructions and now I have no ads on my site and have to configure the site all over again as my changes are gone including all the users and adds. is there a way to retrive them or do I need to start all over again.
My guess is you chose the install button instead of the update option during the setup procedure so you overwrite your site and the database. The only way to get it back is restore a backup.
datsbase I have found all me data on the hostgator cpanel but how do I get the site to use them again
Sorry, I dont know anything about hostgators cpanel or where your data is located so cant begin to offer guidance without more detail.
Hey, Now I have found that the listings categories and users are in my files but it seem as though the 68C software cant see it.
Listings and categories are stored in the database so now you really have me confused as to what you are looking at.
you know i am so confused myself sorry when I look on my server at the files that contain, say the photos of the cars that were listed on the site I can see them. And the database on the server seems intact and has all the data stored. But after doing the upgrade some things are missing like the categories I created and the listings, users. Its like the info is there but the 68c software cant see it
It really sounds like you did a new installation instead of an upgrade and on top of that did the install to a new database. When you say you look at the database and all the data is there, can you tell if there are multiple 68C databases? One with data in it and one without?
not sure when i upgraded I used the smartftp software and when It had a conflict it I chose the copy and merge option as I thought this would keep the current ifno and just merge the new files
so you uploaded the new files and thats it? you did not run through the setup procedure again (ie run the setup script)?
Your problem has been resolved and we got your site working. You installed rather than upgraded as quoted. You pressed the install button and not the upgrade one. You were lucky that the database table prefix was changed in this process or you would have lost everything. All is well that ends well. Please check all is fine.
