How are you going to decide whether to ban the person or not. It doesn't seem like your idea is going to work any better as it is a human that is registering and validating the email. Anyhow, why not turn off contact seller for registered users as well, create a new user group and then promote registered users to that new group which does have contact privileges. So you simply need to look at the new registered users arriving in the admin control panel (you can also modify the file includes/kernel/register.php sending out the confirmation email to send you a copy so you will even know someone has signed up).
