I must be overlooking something but I have read the instructions and searched for over an hour. How do I modify the home page? I can see this line in layout.tpl: <div class="block">{include file=$body}</div> But I cannot find where to edit it. Am I suppose to edit it? How do I change or remove the content above the listings?
There are two places that place content into the home page. The page editor in the Administration and actually modifying the home.tpl file in your template folder.
