Just I want to know if I can use Listing Filter Module from templatecodes to setup cities as sub-domains. I mean set up toronto.canada.com, vancouver.canada.com, montreal.canada.com; "one database" but that the Filter Module brings the data only for the city-subdomain selected by the user, so when users select Toronto, go to toronto.canada.com and they find only Ads from Toronto.

The filter works on the locations you put into your admin control panel or on an extra field that you have defined.

    Thanks seymourjames,

    Yes,

Do you think is easy modify the Filter Module? I mean now I don't need the default value "Filter Off"
Because the horizontal and vertical listing galleries, and featured Ads are by city.

You should not need to modify anything if you have defined your locations in your admin control panels for each set of locations. It will be automatic if each system is distinct. However, if you have a shared database then the location filter will have all the locations (the ones you have defined in your you have defined in your admin control panel ) - how could it do anything otherwise - it would not be consistent.

You need to contact me if you intend to have multiple copies for either the template or the modules.

You wish you did own canada.com

I'm trying to figure out the best way to have subdomains-cities before to make any investment.

    Thanks

Why do you want to do that? you would be better off making parent categories into your cities. Then replicating your category structure underneath.

Sorry I don't follow you. Do you mean no subdomains only one domain?

Yes. Another chap had the same issue wanting 10 or more cities. It is a bit painful to replicate the category structure but then you don't need to purchase anything else (although we would have been kind to you on that). This way, the filter can be used on an extrafield or your on your cities as you would define them in your admin panel settings. Your search would then also contain city on the drop down as it is a parent category.

nI terms of a long strategy the subdomains appraoch is perhaps better but what you might do is iframe or rss feeed the other sites into each subdomain. Its not too difficult to do.

Very interesting... the RSS Feeds and iFrame thing. Im going to research this.

Also, in order to replicate the categories multiple times use Navicat, as David has advised me before.

Its a snap using this piece of software.

I have code already developed to do the iframe. This allows you to take any search results page (showlistings) and iframe it onto any page either on another site or your existing site. It also comes clean without the surrounding layout. Anybody interested can PM me for a price.
