What version of 68 Classifieds are you running?
    v4.1.8 Developer

    What template are you using?
    Default

Please describe in detail the issue you are having:

When a guest comes to my site, and clicks on "featured", all you see are (I have 4 featured) 4 lines all saying
    View listing
    View listing
    View listing
    View listing
You can click on those and it will take you to a limited view of that item. No pics.
I have everything set to yes under user groups, guest, except for contact owner to no.
Now if I log in, everything is normal.
    Thanks.

Have you modified the template AT ALL?

If so, try using an unmolested copy of the default template, clear the contents of /templates_c and see if the problem persists.

Is this a freh install of 4.1.8 or was the site upgraded from an older version?

I talked to my tech guy. He said the template edits are minor and almost entirely color changes.

He also said that deleting everything from the template cache folder does resolve the issue but only temporarily. It always comes back and nothing he tries makes a difference. He also mentioned that he found some posts on google where users had the same problem so he was hoping there may be some solution he was not able to find.

    Thanks for all the help.

Must have gotten it sorted out, because I can view the site just fine. If I click the "Featured" tab it works fine as well.

Still does it on occasion, not all the time.

I experience the same problem - I think it's connected to the whole "Remember my ID" issue.

This occurs only occasionally - when I found it the last time I took a closer look and was only able to solve it by deleting the "classLogin" cookie.

I think the whole logic how a visitor is seen as guest (no cookie), returning member (cookie) and logged in member (session) needs a closer look.

    Ahem- if I may remind:
There is still an open ticket (started on December 9th, last entry January 21st) and a bug (unconfirmed for four weeks now)

I have had this too. It appears to only be on ie8 and clearing your history/cookies fixes it. Good to know its not just me.
For example if i view the site on mmy main computer and it happens i can go to another computer and it is fine, well you can even use firefox on the same computer and it is fine.
I had screen shots of this and was going to post about it but i thought it must have been something in my template and would be impossible for you's to figure it out.

One thing i did find that in viewlisting i use {$data.0.image} for my main piture, it shows up as nophoto.gif and none of the other photos show.

As for Remember my ID it is not that as i never use it.
It doesnt just happen on featured listings either as i dont allow them
It has only been since going to 4.1
    Cheers,
    Nick

Does it do it here for you?

    My Classifieds Website

Does it do it on a pristine copy of the default template?

The reason I ask is we can understand if it is coming from core files or template files.
  12. bowers01 Genius At Work

Not that i have seen yet and i have tested your site a bit.
But it has only ever done it to mine about 3 or 4 times in over a month, it was a major fluke that it happened this morning.
It has never done it on 4.09 for me and i used the same templates, all i changed was the javascript. So unless its a javascript conflict as 68c did change what it used.

Is there any application to test this? ie doesnt show a error like it normaly does.

    Nick

EDIT: also does your site use 4.18 yet? i went straight to 4.18 so dont know if it was a change before then

Does it do it on your 4.1 site with a pristine copy of the default template?
  14. bowers01 Genius At Work

I have never used the default template, but looking at bajaboy1's template all that has changed is colors/images.

Thats not really the point. The point is IT HAS changed and why going back to the default template is important for troubleshooting purposes.

Heck just looking at the page it looks like there is an orphaned list item. Who can say what else may be mucked up. Personally if someone doesnt want to follow advice to help troubleshoot something then they must not need my help.
  16. bajaboy1 Customer

Can someone give me some advise on posting a screenshot?

    Thanks
  17. Lhotch curmudgeon

Is your screen shot any different than Bowers? If not or if it basically shows the same thing, then there is no point in posting it, we know what issue you are having but if we cant reproduce it ourselves and your not willing to revert to an unmolested copy of the default template to see if you can recreate the problem then I think your going to get little help.

I have the same issue. It happens in Firefox and IE

It seems if I am logged in and then log out, the images show. However if I just go straight to the category from my home page when I open up the browser I just get "View Listings" no images.
I can however see the feature ads on my main page.
    I have a ticket in with 68C.
    I am running 4.1.8

    I have attached an image.

    Templates are not the cause

    Hi Larry,

I was able to bring up the issue again.

I switched to the original template and the problem still exists.

Please believe me - it's not the template but something in the "login in"/Remember me/Session / Cookie procedure.

The cookie is there but is not recognized, instead of that this problem occurs.

    Best regards

I'm sorry, but I had no idea what you were talking about at the time...seems someone has already done this though..
    Thanks
