Hey All, Well its become a wide component of many forums and web sites and thought it would be a huge help to users if they could log in using "Login Using Facebook". I noticed that there was a previous thread a little while ago in 2010 but a lot has changed since then and thought it is a crucial component. If anyone was willing to develop it, would anyone else be willing to chip in? If there is any developers out there that would be willing to develop it, i'm sure we'd be very interested. Thanks Adrian
I think it would be a welcome addition. My initial thoughts are that it should be core functionality for a future release of 68C...though, I would be curious to see what costs would be to get it developed as a module or plugin.
Although I can't speak for 68 Classifieds themselves, I wouldn't think that this would be a "core" function. The reason I believe that, is due to the fact that it depends on a third party that also requires you to sign up as a developer and register your website for a unique id for use of the api with that site. In addition, it is widely known that Facebook tracks you when you use it's login and through it's cookies continues to track you wherever you go on the web. I actually have an extension installed that prevents Facebook's ability to track me through their cookies. They don't have a very good track record for guarding your privacy and/or information.
Ah thats a good point Mike, I can see where your coming from. I would consider it a favour to my members then to not have it hehe Thanks Adrian
Well, under any circumstances, you would want people to have the option to login with Facebook/Google/Twitter/Yahoo or create an account separately. The way to go would be to integrate this with an existing application like https://github.com/crhym3/simpleauth
