Hi ! With v3.0 and 3.1, in usercheckout.php first step, we were able to 'split' the categories in x step (useful if you have several subcategories, and don't want to afraid the customer with a 3 miles long list !). First you only display the 'level one' categories (main), and after the 'level two', etc. It makes the choice of the customer really easier. The thread for v3.1 http://www.68classifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=412 I think this mod will be welcome with v4. (John, are you still busy ?) lol Regards Pascal
Pascal, First, lol. I am actually still busy. I can't seem to get enough time to do anything these days. If I have some time in the morning I will see what I can do about this for v4. FYI: I think Maffo has something like this in his checkout module.
Hi all Has anyone been able to make this mod work in v4? If so I am sure a lot of us would love to have this code and exact steps posted again. I tried to follow the threads from v3 and it gets a little confusing to follow. This would be an excellent addition to v4. Thanks
Ahoy There... Hello... Why does this thread always seem to disappear up its own backside... Did anyone find out how to do this yet?
very interested in this... I am getting ads posted in the wrong categories because of this. Please advice.
Please remind me what this does again. I briefly read through the linked thread but didn't study the code.
Eric, As I understand, it separates the Main Categories from the sub categories in the checkout section. I guess it would behave as a Parent / Child, When the Main (parent) category is selected, it then gives another option to choose the sub category. This avoids ads being placed in the wrong category. For example, I have been getting a lot of REAL ESTATE ads posted on the Services/real estate section instead of Real Estate/ For Sale section. I hope I explained myself correctly.
Yes Indeed. That module is specifically for this purpose. Great work Larry. I would, om the other hand, show it as a parent / child drop down style or accordion menu. Seems cleaner and more intone with the site templates.
The problem with Parent/child dropdowns is that any more than 2 levels deeps seems to cause a lot of problems, especially with internet explorer (imagine that). I actually started with dropdowns but had all sorts of problems with the JS/ajax to load dropdowns o abandoned the idea and went with the tree.
