I downloaded and read the tuturial from Larry. Very informative. Thanks Larry for sharing your knowledge. In it Larry states This made me think. I have used a Dreamweaver template for one of my other sites. Would it be possible to use a Dreamweaver template or any other HTML template for that matter in 68classifieds? Has anyone ever used one before? Cheers Hugh
The term template is used by many applications and exactly what the template entains often varies from application to application. In 68 classifieds a template is a mixture of html, javascript, css and images which make up the presentation layer of the site. Ive never used dream weaver myself so cant comment on that, but there are many sites on the net that have free "templates" and others that charge. These templates are generally nothing more than an image, much like the one I make in the tutorial. Many of course are a lot more complex and include rollovers and the javascript to utilize them but I dont see any reason they coundnt be used. You still have to do the work integrating the 68classifieds smarty variables into it however.
You could use Dreamweaver but it does get kind of tricky with the image paths. But I use 95% of the time when designing new websites so you just have to learn it's workarounds.
