This module was our best-seller for 68C v3.1, and it has now been upgraded with a keyword filter and released for 68C v4 as well. Prevent scammers from registering an account or contacting your members. This helps prevent spam, chargebacks, and irate customers. This module integrates with your user registration form and listings contact form and gives you control over the countries & IPs from which these forms may be used, as well as a keyword filter to blacklist certain words or phrases from being sent through your contact form. Configurable whitelist of countries that you can tailor to your site's audience Configurable IP blacklist Configurable keyword blacklist Works silently behind the scenes so would-be scammers are unaware they are being filtered Includes its own admin area within your 68C AdminCP (to configure the whitelist) Simple install How it Works 1) When a visitor uses a listing's contact form to contact the listing's owner, the visitor's country (based on their IP address) is checked against your list of allowed countries, disallowed IPs, and disallowed keywords. If the message passes these checks, the email is sent to the listing owner per normal procedure. If it is caught by one of the filters, the email is sent to the Site Admin email address only. 2) When a visitor signs up, the visitor's country (based on their IP address) is checked against your list of allowed countries and disallowed IPs. If the country is NOT allowed or his IP is in your IP blacklist his user level is immediately changed to level 4 ("Banned" by default) and he is unable to log in. Click here to view the full details. Can I use the scam filter to limit user access only to certain US cities or state? If not, can I use it to limit access to US users only? How much is this mod? Can you install it too?
Mike, as mentioned above, the filtering is done at 3 levels: country, IP, and keyword filtering (keyword filtering for the contact/pm forms of course). So yes, you can limit registrations or contact requests to the US only. The price is listed on the product page via the link above, and yes we can install it if you prefer (although it is rather simple and you could most likely handle it yourself).
Hi Civ, Dropped you an email there, after upgrading to Ver 4 how do I get a copy of the module to install ? Thanks, Mully
Hi Mully. It all depends on what version of the module you have - the current version detects which 68C version you are running and adapts accordingly for either v3 or v4. Shoot us another email with your licensed domain and the date you purchased so we can look you up - that will tell us what we need to know and we can handle the rest via email.
Hey Civ, I just sent you some email (via these forums) with our licensed domain and (approx.) date we purchased. Would very much like to get upgraded to the 4.0 version as soon as possible. Thanks in advance, -- hugh
Just got this module and installed it on my new 4.08 version of 68C. It's not working for me... followed the install instructions exactly, and double-checked. Seemed easy enough. However, when I try to register on my site as a new user, all I get is a blank page after completing the registration form. No activation e-mails are sent out. If I refresh the page and click on resend to resend the form info, I get the registration page again with an error message at the top of the form saying an error occurred and to try again. Resubmitting the form just keeps giving the same error at the top of the form. The registered use DOES show up in the admin control panel, shown as awaiting e-mail confirmation. For the time being I'm going to have to uninstall the module until this can either get fixed or I can get a refund. Any help greatly appreciated!
As a follow up to my above post, simply deactivating the civ scam module in my admin panel fixed the registration problem (although, of course, the scam module is not doing anything now)... so, I'm guessing that means that none of the changes I made to php files are causing the problem, and it's the civ scam module files themselves that are somehow not working.
I don't know much about this module, but I believe it has a setting where you add the allowed or blocked countries - have you checked to be sure your country is allowed/disallowed?
Thanks, but, yes, I had my country and several others set up. And, if it was blocking me, it should have shown me a message on the screen saying to contact the administrator for account activation, and is should also send the admin an e-mail when it blocks someone... none of that was happening - Just a totally blank screen.
Stephen, as we mentioned in our email it appears that you either did not upload the IP database file in binary mode as instructed or your FTP client only partially uploaded it. Please delete and re-upload the module in binary mode and you should be fine.
Now 4.1.10 compatible We've had several inquiries recently about this module's compatibility with 4.1.10, so just wanted to post here and confirm that it is indeed 4.1.10 compatible.
