What version of 68 Classifieds are you running?
    V4.2.3 Developer

    What template are you using?
    Default

Please describe in detail the issue you are having:

When I go into admin panel>users>Manage users and enter new password on right, upper side of the account info on a test Registered User account and then hit Update I am logged out automatcially from my admin panel and required to login again.

Is it suppose to do this? If so, why? Is this not one of the ways these PW boxes can/should be used by admin?

If not, any thoughts on how to tweak it?

    Thanx,
    Don

That would NOT be the normal behavior at all. It doesn't do it on any of mine.

Have you made any changes to the administration/users.php file? If not, you may want to check that file for corruption.

well, uploaded users.php 2x from original copies and still happens. Hmmmm.....

Clear browser cache, cookies and templates_c folder (cached files)
  5. dwalley Customer

Nada! cleared everything suggested a couple of times and still auto logs me out of admin window back to login screen.

I don't seem to be able to work myself out of these seemingly small but persistantly pesky issues.

    Open to other thoughts...

PS Perhaps submit a ticket? Not sure how to proceed without additional thoughts and all are welcome.

Upload your includes folder and your administration folder again - probably file corrupted as suggested already.

Well, uploaded includes folder, admin folder from original master files, cleared cache and cookies and templates_c files. Tested it on 3 different pcs. Stil doing it.

Stll being logout and taken to admin login screen when i try to update the passwords in manage user file and hit Update.

Anything else I can upload, delete, etc.?

If you are talking about 2 different accounts, one for admin and then a non admin test user I beleive that happens to me as well. My guess is its how cookies/sessions are created/stored for the site and users for the same site are not differentiated so once you log in as a new user the cookie gets overwritten with the new session login.

What I generally do if I am using a test user (non admin) and a admin user at the same time, I open 2 different browsers, One to host the front end test client(say safari for example) and one for my admin session (say firefox).

Thanx Larry. But its simpler AND more complex than that (I think).

Ie. When i am in Admin ONLY and go to Manage Users screen. I select a NON ADMIN test account that is registered but I want to change the password. In the top, right corner of the Manage Users screen there are two boxes for password and password confirm (corrected)l confirm I assume were put there for this reason.

When I fill in those 2 boxes and then go to the bottom and hit update I'm logged out automatically and taken to the Admin login screen.

I'm not even sure this is how these boxes are to be used but no one has corrected me to date so I'm assuming this was designed to allow the administrator to tweak individual accounts, passwords included, as needed.

    Thanx! Appreciate any/all ideas.

Not sure where to go from here...

Assuming that you actually meant password and password confirm, right?

Try it on the 68 Classifieds demo site.

yes. Brain thiking one thing, hand typing another....geez, one of those day already.

  12. dwalley Customer

Yea, tested the Demo site per your suggestion.

    My does NOT do this.

Turns out that its NOT just when editing passowords but ANYTIME I hit
    1. the Update button at bottom of Manage Users screen of ANY user including Admins EVEN IF I DON"T MAKE ANY CHANGES and
    2. The Submit button when adding New Users
...it still auto logs me out and returns to login screen

    3. AND, it seems when I register a new account the confirmation email and login/password emails are NOT being sent out. I tested a new account hours ago and havent received either yet.

Don't know if that adds any helpful insight but its apparently not related to Password editing issues alone as I originally thought.

None of the other Submit buttons, editing screen or changes made have the same results.

Could REALLY use some help here . ANY suggestions? Getting desparate to launch this thing... If its recommended I'll reload the whole site. I just dont want to keep having to repeat this in the future.

I've already uploaded fresh Admin and Includes folders.

    thanx,
    don

My eyes are tired, sorry, did you say that this does or doesn't occur in the demo? Go ahead and submit a ticket, odds are I'll need to check your files to figure out why this is happening. Please don't forget to include your FTP information, and an admin username/password along with the ticket.
  15. Mike-N-Tosh Developer & Moderator

Well, something is definitely wrong in your install then.
When you as an admin setup a new user account, there is no notification emails sent.

There was a bug which only occurs when registered_globals was on. This will be fixed in 4.2.4 and is now resolved for his installation.
