    Hi.
I have advertisers who have listing which can be added in more than one category. Presently I am creating more than 1 advertisement along with different email addresses for the users to submit it in different categories which is really time consuming and I have to maintain more data like email addresses and other stuff.? Infact my users prefer it much better if they can select more (or multi) category while adverstising their listing with just single email address. Please help me on this?

Adverts are tied to a package and in turn these are tied to categories which also support extrafields. An advert can only exist in one specific category unless it is submitted again into another category. There are many technical issues to overcome. For example, just one problem is how would you generalize your idea if two categories had different sets of extrafields.

The issue you run into at a business level is how will you charge people by submitting to multiple categories. Another issue is you will fill your site with duplicate content. Basically the answer is no without quite a bit of custom coding and realistically you could not do it without losing a lot of the current flexibility that extrafields bring to the system.

Thank You Seymour. But still I find it more beneficial to have listing in more than one category for the region where I am running this site from. I would also like to know what are the exact uses of extra fields? and how can it be utilized in a prefect and different ways? Is there any manual for extrafields?

I am running another classifieds script that doesn't allow multiple categories.... but what it does have is a copy function to make a duplicate of ad. You can then change categories of new ad. I know you would still have problem of custom fields but this may be an easier solution than multiple categories. If someone could figure out how to duplicate an ad with one click I would be interested in that.
