Default Help help

I had my site built by a designer and I am trying to figure out if I can go in andd make changes to the site without my designer? Due to some circumstances I cant contact my designer and have very little experiance in web design. All I want to do is to be able to make changes on my site and be able to ad a few things like articles. Any and all help would be appreciated.

The simple answer is yes you can go in and make changes.

Your ability to change things though is directly related to your skill level.

That being said I am not sure what kind of answer you are looking for. The web is full of tutorials aon HTML, CSS and smarty.

I am entirely self taught so it can be done if you are willing to spend the time. There are no short cuts.

I guess what I am asking is I dont even know how to get into my site to change pages? Once I am able to get into it can I just change the words that I need to change or do I have to learn how to write in the language. I think my site is PHP

IN the template directory find the folder called your templates name . Then in there you will find a lot of .tpl files. You can open these in any WYSIWYG editor such as dreamweaver or frontpagr.

That all depends on exactly what "words" you are talking about changing.

Static content is all contained in the language file so you would change those "words" by editing that file.

Dynamic content such as "extra pages" (see documentation for details) are stored in the database and they can be edited by logging into your sites admin under settings -> page editor.

If you want to add additional text outside the language file then you need to edit specific template files.

Hi,

There are two different kind of pages
1. the pages you can only edit through the template files, (mostly php files : viewlisting etc)
to edit these files go to template editor, choose your template and pick the right tempalte file (tpl file)

2. other pages like home information and pages with the url page.php? etc (or with the seo mod page/ etc) you can edit these in the page editor
