I received a message in my email from someone who wrote to me via my site. The message did not show in my "inbox" in my account. Is this a glitch or do I have something set to where it would not show in my account inbox? I am leaning toward a glitch since I can not see a purpose for it to not show in my accounts inbox.

This is very confusing as to what you are actually saying.

If you "received" an email, but it didn't show in your "inbox" then how did you get it? Where did it show? What "account" are you referring to?

You may be confusing Private messaging with email. These are completely different things. Also the questions asked by seymourjames are also important to give clarification to your issue, if there actually is an issue.

The email came to my hotmail account through the "contact seller", but did not show in my site account.

You are not very forthcoming with the details of your issue. You may still be confused between emails and private messages, which again are two separate things.

If a user uses the Contact Seller Form, then it sends an email to the seller. As this isn't a private message than of course you wouldn't show this email in your private messages.

If the user is logged in and used the private message to contact the seller AND you have private message notifications set to on, then in addition to sending a Private message, it will ALSO send a "Private Message Notification" email to the seller as well.

So the question is, what email did you receive? A contact email or a private message notification. If it was a private message notification, the subject (unless it was changed), should say you have a new private message. If you did receive a private message notification and the message isn't showing in your private messages on the site, then there is an issue.

If you received a contact email, then there is no issue and everything is working as it should be.

I hope that makes sense and helps clarify the differences to establish whether or not there is an issue with your system.

I see. Yes, It is working correctly. I thought anytime someone contacted the seller it would show in the private messages. Thanks much.
