Default html coding necessary in pages?

Hey guys,

Is it necessary to add all the proper html stuff to pages created from the page editor in the admin panel?

For example:

<html>
<head>
<!-- Content !-->
</head>

<body>
<!-- Content !-->
</body>

</html>

Or will this just be duplicate html since it is already in the layout.tpl? Can you just add html without it being in the header or body?

You DO NOT need to add any of those elements. The content that you input in the page editor (or any other template file except for the layout.tpl) is used in the content portion of the layout which already has all of the necessary (X)HTML elements.
