Default Implementing the sharing button into ads

Hi,

I was wondering how could I add a sharing button to my ads. In other words a social media button that permits you to share it on different sites with just 1 click. I tried searching for it on the forum and did not find anything.
Does anyone know how I can accomplish this?

Thanks.

There are two websites that I know of that offer this, Addthis and Share. I don't know of anything that allows you to share with more than one site at a time with 1 click though. That would be kind of silly, because you would still have to login or already be logged into each one of those sites in order share the link as you still have to actually post it/confirm it.

I'm currently working on a module called "Share This" to enable a 68 Classifieds administrator to add links to Share to the most popular social networking destinations. This is so you don't have to rely on a third party site for this functionality as well as have easier control of placement of those links on your site. This is also going to include a "Follow Us" that will take the user directly to your page/area on those social networking destinations as well (e.g. Follow us on Facebook <http://facebook.com/myclassifieds?...>).

Cool, that pretty much sums up what I am looking for. Tell me when this mod will be available because I can definitely use it.

Thanks.

Be careful of AddThis and Share - I have heard things about them and how they collect data for other purposes. Google it to find out more. These features have now been removed from our templates for example.

Yes, I discovered this as well which is WHY I quit using there services on my client's sites and why I'm making it a module instead.

Good idea Mike. Good luck with it. At present I just link to the individual social networks directly.

Taking on board the concerns over sharing services I have still implemented one into my site. I use addtoany which at best doesn't appear to be coming in for quite so much criticism as other services.

Anyway, is this what you're after?

If so I'll do a little write up, it really isn't too difficult.
