Default Expired Ads

I have a copy of this software running, I just wanted to know what is going to happen when the first batch of ads expire? Will the users get a chance to renew? From what I can see quite a few of our ads have vanished including some of the test ads I placed. I did not get any email notification from the site..

Firstly you can see from your admin control panel which ads are close to expiration. Its not a completely hands-off system. The advertisers should be getting a renewal email but if they choose to ignore it there is little you can do unless you decide to extend the expiration of their advert via the admin control panel. There is also a setting to give the number of renewal days that they have before deletion.

Once and ad has expired it is gone forever.

Sounds like you may have set the "Allow renewal" field in your checkout settings to "No"

I ran the upgrade to the latest version, I have also checked the setting and the "allow renew" is set to 7 days. As I setup the first ads on the site I should have the renew email but it never came through. I have been getting emails for new ads and edits... It's a little hard to understand what the issue might be.

The "Allow Renewal" in the checkout settings is a drop down with either "Yes" or "No", so I don't see how you could set that field to 7 days!

Perhaps you are referring to the "Send Renewal Notice Days Prior" in the same checkout settings screen??? That would not do anything if you don't allow renewals to begin with.

That what it says in the thread. Set renewal days notice and set renewals to yes in your admin panel.

Well I worked the phone pretty hard to get my first batch of advertisters and as the renewals have not gone out I've probably burned them by now. The settings are correct, I've checked them over more than once. Thanks for your advice and help, I'm not sure what action to take now, I might try setting up a new product for testing purposes and see if that generates notifications.

I would also like to ask why there is the option in the "manage listings" section to change the status of an advert to "active" when the system does not appear to let it happen?

I think you can just make a quick package for your self and see if it notifies you. Also, did none of your customers say whether they had received a notification.
