Default Best way to clone site?

Hi Guys,

As some of you know I have my classifieds on a sumdomain. I need to now copy the installation to another subdomain. How would I do this?

Copy the files over

Duplicate the database.

Then change a reference in a file AND in the database?

Many Thanks

Gary

Do you want to run two different sites? or just move the location of the current one?

the way i would do it:
Download content via ftp, upload to new position. Export the database, make a new one and import. Then go into administration and change the url.
That should be it.

ok...but, how will i get to administration? Surely if I go to the admin link of the new copy of the site, it wont work? As the new site isnt pointing to the new database yet?

In Connections/classifieds.php
it specifies the database details. You will need to update that for the new domain and reupload it.
