Default Cities and databases

Hi everybody,

I would like to install multiple instances of 68classifieds under the same domain for different cities, but I am not sure if you have to have a different database for each city or if I can use the same database already installed.

Please advise if you know how.

Thank you in advance.

Zoozads.com.

Sam.

Hi Sam,

Why do you want to have a different install for each city? Why not just one install with all the categories you want?

Are you implying that each city will be a subdomain? Therefore you home page for example may be specific to that city etc?

Hi again,

Yes, i would like to leave the installation in the root of the domain as a general install and add subdomains for different cities. I an not sure if there is an easier way to do it or not.

Thanks again.

Sam.

I will defer to Eric about use of multiple instances of 68C into sub-domains. Our policy is fairly clear as regards templates. We offer a site wide license to use across as many sub-domains as you please but it is not the advertised price. Effectively we view it as multiple installations as each sub-domain can be completely different in content and style.

I am referring to the core 68classifieds software and using different installations for each city not about the template. To be completely honest with you, I am not too happy with the additional template (or service) that I bought anyway. In only bought a modified css file for $60.

Eric, could you please explain if it is possible to use the same database for different cities as subdomains or if I have to create a database for each city.

Thank you.

Sam.

If you are referring to one of our templates, I rebut your comments in the strongest terms.

New CSS file, new layout.tpl, new home.tpl, new images, new icons, new menus, new expandable jquery accordians, new layout.js, new plugins for showing featured, latest and horizontal listings, new module template loader, ready for search, prices and rss module, etc.

Your comment is far from accurate my friend. I suggest you try and design a template cross browser. Give us a call in a month or so and we will take a look.

We will let others decide thank you and the forum is full of customers which pay tribute to our products and service which is second to none.

Sam,

Yes you can have different installs for different cities. As long as they are on the same main domain.

I totally agree with Dave. My experience with the template install was remarkably professional and of the highest regard to detail and quality. I am very proud to own a site put together by these guys. You will not find a better crew that has only their customers satisfaction in mind. I feel the individual that wants an exception to company terms has been very unfair in his assessment of the quality service and products templatecodes.com has to offer at very fair and affordable prices.

First of all, I did NOT open this thread to discuss your template and I did NOT explicitly mention your template.

Eric seems to be trying to answer the database question and you seem to be trying to change the subject to discuss your templates.

I did not mean to hurt your delicate feelings, my friend. It seems that you cant take criticism too well. The only answer I got from you and your stuff about the problems that I was having (and still have) with your template is that ALL hosting compnies should upgrade their PHP version to 5.x for your modified modules to work properly, and dont forget that I was the one who let you know about the cross browsers issue that you never tested before selling your product. I have emails and logs from you support site to prove that.

Let me repeat, this thread is NOT intended to discuss your template. Please stop wasting your time, my time, and other readers time if you cant answer the database question, which I doubt very much anyway.

Thank you.

Sam.
