Default No email sent to user to verify account

I registered on my site to test it, but no email was sent to verify the account - I did get on that said Welcome and it contained my user name and password. But when I try to log in this is the error I receive:

An email has been sent and you must follow the link to verify your account before you can login.

Is it possible to send an email from an email account from your hosting account to determine whether email is being accepted by your intended email account?

It is working because I received this email - but no link to activate the account.

I was able to register and place an ad just now.

Is it possible the confirmation email was filtered? Maybe it ended up in your spam folder for some reason?

Duh, why didn't I think of that? It's usually the simplest thing that trips us up.

Thanks for your quick response and I like your bike!

I find this behavior of receiving the Welcome email, but not the activation email quite often on the biggest free email services (eg. Yahoo Mail, gMail, Hotmail). I modified the Welcome email to include text that states that this is ONE of TWO emails that you should receive. The second email is your activation email and you MUST follow the link in the activation email to activate your account. If you did not receive the second activation email, please check your SPAM folder. If you still haven't received your activation email, please visit our site and attempt to login. You will be notified that your account has not been activated and you can click the link to have your activation email resent.

Adding this extra text in the welcome email has saved me tons of extra work and support for the end users.

-Mike
