Default Urgent Regarding SEO Urls..

I have bought the mod SEO URL Friendly and my urls are not showing up correct. The only one that does are the ones that are on my homepage as featured listing...my subcategory works...however the ad listings inside do not!

For they show up as : /listing/200/.html
instead of as /listing/200/ad_for_sale_great.html

Anyone who why it didnt fix the WHOLE ads and subcategories...and how to correct this. Is it something with the htaccess?

I copied the info exactly into the root.

What is up with the .svn folder..it also has an htaccess file.

That is a weird folder.

You may have to submit a ticket with your ftp details so we can login and try to figure out what is going on.

Default Thanks Eric...i was hoping you would respond

Thanks I was hoping you would respond, but with a suggestion of what I can do. I dont like no one having my FTP info and snooping around. I had a good host website hosting company of 5 years and then they literally attempted to steal my website. Sorry, but my site has private and valuable user information as well. I dont trust no one...so sorry to say. I finally made 67USD off my listings site for the first time...so I am too afraid of anyone know to know my FTP info. I even need to pay someone to help edit some javascript..but yet i am paranoid. I am a selftaught webmaster and its tough.

I did everything correct as to install and copy and paste stuff into the htaccess is not hard. So do offer any idea why its doing this?

If my htaccess is a perfect copy of the one presented, then what is going on?

Could it be the fact that I edited the template to view the NEW listings FIRST? What can I do thanks.

PS I will be more mods from you soon as long as I know this one is working alright. I installed 2 of the free mods with no problems.

Default Extra info Regarding SEO URLS not working properly..this sucks...

I had edited my template to show the NEW users FIRST about 5 months ago
(I used /kernal/listings.php

$pageNum = 1;
$options['sortfield']='dateadded';
$options['sortorder']='desc';
if(isset($_GET['page']))

The only listings that actually show with the new SEO mod are the ones from my homepage that are FEATURED listings.

All other listings in the subcategories show like:
http://www.mydomain.com/listing/374/.html

ALSO when I click on the BROWSE instead of it listing a hole bunch of ads like it usually does it list the CATEGORY selections...what happened?

This new mod isnt good... =(

Do u think its not working because of how I edited the listings.php file?

Yes it could be. Please upload original files that are not modified and see if it works.

Unhappy Lets just say it is because

Lets just assume that it is because of the change I made...then what? How do I fix this?

Because I like to move forward and not back. I dont even have the orginal file. I maybe have it on CD somewhere..but I only keep my current template backups handy. I spent a very long time to edit my template and think i have one of the best ones out there despite that I am self taught...

....now i just need to figure out how to edit the .htaccess file and it seems that 68 Classifieds isnt helping much with the mod that I have purchased from them

I mean I made one small line in my listings.php text so that NEW listings are first and the old ones last...why does that interfer with the SEO thing and how come no one knows how to fix/correct this.

This is pretty darn frusterating.

I think its something in this .htaccess here:
RewriteRule ^categories/([0-9a-zA-Z_-]+)/sort/([0-9a-zA-Z_-]+)/order/(desc|asc)\.html$ category.php?cat=$1&sortfield=$2&sortorder=$3 [NC]
RewriteRule ^categories/([0-9a-zA-Z_-]+)/sort/([0-9a-zA-Z_-]+)/order/(desc|asc)/page/([0-9]+)\.html$ category.php?cat=$1&sortfield=$2&sortorder=$3&page =$4 [NC]

Now the way i have it sorted as u can see in the code I shared earlier is by 'dateadded'

Where would I add this at in the htaccess file...that is probably fix it...I am just assuming with my 28 year old brain

Would something like categories/([0-9a-zA-Z_-]+)/sort/dateadded([0-9a-zA-Z_-]+)/order/(desc|asc

work?

I don't see how you can expect to have anyone help you with the attitude that you are expressing and the stance that you have taken.

Clearly you have an issue. 68 Classifieds "Official" support is through the ticket system. They have offered you "Official" support, however you chose not to accept that support. These forums are free support by the community of users of 68 Classifieds.

You don't have original copies of the software, nor have you provided your customization. Honestly, how do you expect anyone to be able to assist you without any of the pertinent information to your issue, let alone access to your site?

Think of it this way, if your toilet was broken and you called a plumber and said, "I bought this toilet from you. I've modified some of the parts and now it isn't working. You need to fix it, but you can't come into my house, let alone my bathroom!" On top of that, you go to plumbers online and post and complain publicly about how they won't fix your modified toilet which you paid good money for.

Who do you think is going to help you?

-Mike

Hi cathouse911,

Mike is right -- you've asked for help, help has been offered, but you won't accept it.

Can you understand that there are so many variables that are unknown - what if the error is due to some other change you've made that you don't realize has impacted the functionality of the SEO mod? That may be the case, or it may not. Since you don't know what the cause is, how can anyone else know without investigation?

I'm probably more paranoid than most, yet I do allow FTP access to my site when it is warranted, and when the support person is known to have a good reputation. I know Eric has no interest in your site itself, just your issues with 68c - and is standing by ready to help if you let him.

Look at all the threads here and realize there is no indication of anything dishonest about the program or the support staff. Do a google search for "68 classifieds problems" and you know that if there was any hint of impropriety you'd find it there.

I run the SEO mod and I can tell you first-hand it does work properly. In my quest to customize 68c to my needs, I've also done lots of things do mess up the script. Fortunately I've developed a routine that keeps me from screwing things up too bad, like making incremental changes and testing each before moving on; keeping backups; keeping original untouched copies of all scripts I use; and documenting the changes I make.

My guess is the problem lies with something you've changed - not a biggie, we all do that. But if you want help, you've got to accept it. That includes giving temporary access to your files.

There are some things you can do to make you feel better about giving FTP access to 68c support so your own errors can be fixed by them:

If the 68c script is in a subdirectory on your site, create a separate FTP login and restrict it to only the folder containing the 68c installation.

Change the FTP password now, give it to 68c support, and change it again after they have finished.

Regards,
Jim

Default Well I HAD indeed submited a TICKET Report

Sorry, that I didnt post to make sure everyone was AWARE that I have submitted a support ticket

I DO have the Orginial copy I just had to hunt through the computer for the zip file...Sorry if I wasnt that confident in that it would make a difference.
I DID try uploading the original and I have the same site problem.

I am using CertOS not sure if that matters for anyone that has any sugesstions....

For those who DO have the SEO mod working....did u have to modify the htaccess code? Or u left it as orginial as I have too?

Does it matter that I have v.4.0.4?

I havent wanted to upgrade because I know this was the clean version after it was audited....and feel that it would be the most stable version.

PS I have NOT made any other change to the site other than the to show the new ads first and come css color changes. I DO have the 3rd column design...but nothing else.

I was checking to see if someone has had this issue already...but I guess not.

Actually v4.0.7 was the last one audited and just bug fixes after that.

As others have said without ftp information all I can recommend is upload ALL original 68 classifieds files and reupload the SEO Module again.
