Apologies if this has been answered already, had a look didn't see it..

How do you modify the V4 code to align the Category links underneath the category images ?

Had this working in v3 but not too sure for v4 as the home.tpl is slightly diff

Note all category images have the same dimensions.

Around line 15 in the home.tpl file, replace the space (

with a <br>. That should replace the space between the pic and the name with a line break instead. I haven't tested or tried this, but it should work.
