Default creating a folder inside the public folder

I am trying to upload the software to a subfolder.
2 questions.

1. I plan to transfer all the files to the root folder after I am ready for my
site to go live. How do I do this?

2. I am trying to create a folder inside the public folder using filezilla
as my ftp connect. I am seeing both the local and server side and have used
filezilla once before. When I right click in the "server pane" (i'm not sure exactly what that is, I right clicked where it says remote site and where the folder icon is with / - I also right clicked in the white space under filename, filesize filetype) nothing gave me the option to create a new folder. If I right click on the folder icon under remote site it has an option to create a directory. Is that what I'm supposed to do?

Also I didn't save the files to my C drive, I saved them to my documents. Will I still be able to upload them ok?

Hi,

#1. - I think this document should help:
Moving a Site [68 Classifieds]

#2. - A lot of servers are setup to have a public_html folder or httpdocs folder. This is the actual root folder to the website. So inside here you would create your new directory to upload to.
